In today’s political environment, it is unfortunate that most discussions about human migration become both polarized and partisan. But by exploring this critical and timely topic through the arts, however, we can generate a wider understanding of the role of migration throughout history and of what our common future can bring.
Joining us in the exploration of Human Migration at a local and global level are:
1. “Ungrateful Immigrants”: A collaborative dance performance by Ipsita Satpathy (Odissi), Rie Katayama (Flamenco), and Mike Ford (Contemporary). The performance will share an interpretation of the emotional struggle of human migration throughout history, especially as humans have moved across countries, continents and cultures.
2. Ayodele Drum and Dance: A fun dance and drum circle that will keep your feet stomping! The performance will highlight the beauty of Dance and Drums from many African countries. This exhilarating performance is also a tribute to contributions made by African immigrants who have made our community and our nation a better place.
If you are unable to join please consider a donation. Proceeds from this performance will be donated to Growing Home, a charity organization that inspires healthy living, economic opportunity and community empowerment.
