The NWSOFA Fiscal and Economic Issues group will meet via Zoom Monday Night, June 19th 7 pm.

Good news in recent economic data – it looks like we are heading for a soft landing:

– the debt ceiling increased until 2025

– nonfarm payrolls increased by 339,000 in May

– the unemployment rate increased to 3.7% in May

– The twelve month CPI has declined from 9.1% last June to 5.0% in March. Twelve month PCE inflation was 4.2% in March

– First quarter Real GDP growth was revised up to 1.3%

Juneteenth the Movie In-Person Meeting

GPAD 1310 W. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, IL

Greater Palatine Area Democrats is commemorating Juneteenth with a screening of the documentary “13th,” a film exploring the legacy of racism in U.S. history. The title refers to the Thirteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which abolished slavery.

Juneteenth is a holiday marking June 19, 1865, when federal troops that had arrived in Galveston, Texas, informed the enslaved people there that they had been freed by the Emancipation Proclamation, signed two and a half years earlier.

THE WINGS PROGRAM IS MAKING A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF SO MANY WOMEN AND FAMILIES WITH SAFE HOUSING, SERVICES TO AND HEALING, AS WELL AS JOB TRAINING. WINGS IS BREAKING THE CYCLE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ITS MISSION IS TO GIVE VOICE TO THOSE WHO

HAVE BEEN HURT FOR TOO LONG. YOUR DONATIONS ARE EITHER GIVEN DIRECTLY TO THOSE WHO WINGS SERVES.

All recipients of WINGS care receive your donations directly, and are given vouchers for free shopping in the stores. And 100% of proceeds go to further WINGS MISSION-BREAKING THE CYCLE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND GIVING VOICE TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN HURT FOR TOO LONG.

No books, clothing must be in bags and no hangers, appliances can be in boxes, no picture frames. Drop off times at wings: 10am-3pm (behind the building)
