Upcoming Alliance to Prevent Gun Violence Meeting

Passage of Karina’s bill begs the question of “what’s next?” for gun violence prevention legislation in Illinois and that will be a focus of our conversation on Wednesday, January 22nd, at a special meeting time of 7:30 p.m! New Illinois Alliance President, Rachel Jacoby, will lead the discussion on what options are on the table, or still under construction, for 2025 gun violence prevention legislation in the Land of Lincoln.

2025 is a relaunch year for ENOUGH! Plays to End Gun Violence, and we are excited and honored to have ENOUGH! Founder Michel Cotey update us about the national search for great young writers to bring their creativity, insight and wisdom to the gun violence crisis in new and challenging ways. We can’t wait to get the full update from Michael on the 2025 ENOUGH! plans and timelines.

_Donald Trump’s campaign was built on promises to champion the working class, pledging to revitalize American industries, create jobs, and prioritize the needs of low-income voters. He positioned himself as a populist outsider intent on “draining the swamp” and dismantling the influence of elites in Washington._

Vs Reality

However, his incoming administration, filled with wealthy cabinet members and advisors like Elon Musk, has sparked concerns about whether his policies will align with those promises or reflect the priorities of the rich and powerful. Critics argue that these appointments suggest a potential disconnect between Trump’s populist rhetoric and the reality of his governance.
