Stand With Women October Meeting

Michelle and I are very excited and curious to know more about our guest speaker Cook County Appellate Court Judge Cynthia Cobbs and all that she does in our judicial system. Judge Cobbs is no stranger to NWSOFA/Indivisible.

You may have already met her as she greeted so many and spoke at our August picnic. Cynthia is warm, engaging and extremely knowledgeable.And she shared with Michelle and me that one of her goals is to be visible. Judge Cobbs wants us to know her and our other judges- not just to be some name on a ballot – that we check off blindly.

We are learning that electing the right judges to our state judicial system is absolutely vital to keeping our human rights safe. We welcome Judge Cynthia Cobbs – please join us.

At our last meeting on 9/14 – we were honored to have Aurie Pennick, retired Civil Rights Lawyer( and so much more), share on her perspective of how the structure of how our government has been run over these past 60 years has been incrementally

impinging  greatly on our human rights.

Her talk was so important and urgent for us who are active, a summary of her message will be sent to you this next week, along with the minutes including the other topics, organizations, and events discussed at the last meeting.

Michelle and I so appreciated the thought provoking discussion and input  that you all shared with our group. We want to be sure we keep this info going.

We are still planning on November 2nd for an in person letter/postcard writing event. Mark it on your calendar – more details to follow.
