The judiciary serves as a check on the power of the other branches of government, But is It?

The judiciary serves as a check on the power of the other branches of government. It can declare laws and executive actions unconstitutional. Settling Disputes between individuals. This includes civil cases involving contract disputes, personal injury, property rights, and more, as well as criminal cases where individuals are accused of breaking the law.

Protecting Individual and Minority Rights. The judiciary safeguards individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution. The judiciary can protect the rights of minority groups and individuals by ensuring that their rights are not violated by majority decisions or government actions.

Ensuring Due Process so that all are equal under the law. The judiciary ensures that all individuals receive due process of law, which includes fair and impartial treatment in legal proceedings. Setting Legal Precedent and applying common law precedents guide future decisions and help to standardize the interpretation and application of the law common law principles developed through prior court decisions help ensure consistency in legal interpretation and decision-making.
