Nobody Is Above The Law
THE IMPEACHMENT VOTE.
This coming TUESDAY DEC. 17TH AT 5:30 PM IN ARLINGTON HEIGHTS IS THE PLACE TO BE! Let’s get together and have an impeachment party!
The following is what to expect and what to bring as well as parking hints. Bear with me if it’s long.
First off… THANK YOU for making the decision to STAND UP and defend our democracy. We are in the fight of our lives. It’s a proven fact that protests and rallies are the most effective way to create change. So congratulations on making history by being a part of this historical rally!
WHAT TO BRING —
A big beautiful SIGN encouraging impeachment. Your sign can be anything you want it to be. It can thank Nancy Pelosi, it can be about peace, or Putin. It doesn’t actually have to be big or beautiful. Take anything you have on hand and make a sign. BUT KEEP THE SIGNS CLEAN OF PROFANITY! 😘 Many dollar stores have thick lightweight foam board for a dollar. It’s pretty big. While you are there, pick up a BATTERY OPERATED LIGHT. They have some that have a little handle. Don’t forget the BATTERIES. They sell those there also for a dollar. And to make things a little more fun, some dollar stores sell plastic WHISTLES! Some of us have stood together before and we adopted the whistles in honor of the whistle blower. I know times are a little tight for many of us but if you have $4 you can get the SIGN, LANTERN, BATTERIES and the WHISTLE. Have fun with your sign designing and be creative but KEEP THE SIGNS CLEAN OF PROFANITY. We have always been family friendly so many times kids have joined us for other events. Kids are also in cars that are driving by reading the signs. So have fun but keep it clean. Some people show up with cardboard cutouts of celebrities with anti trump signs on them. It’s pretty funny!
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER–
Check the forecast and dress accordingly. Pay close attention to your toes, fingers and head. If you dress for the weather I make the solemn promise you won’t be cold. If you get cold you didn’t dress appropriately. Ha!
SECURITY–
THE ARLINGTON HEIGHTS POLICE DEPARTMENT and I have been in touch for months planning this event. WE HAVE THEIR FULL SUPPORT. On Tuesday I’ll give them the final number expected to attend. They’ll have officers there “just in case”. The AHPD are very supportive of the community and are friendly. Yay!
DON’T YELL AT PEOPLE WHO YELL AT YOU —-
Don’t yell or scream or interact with ANYONE who yells pro trump stuff out of their car. Don’t. Do. It. LET IT GO. Don’t, and I will repeat, DON’T INTERACT WITH TRUMPERS. You’re more than likely to get a lot of middle fingers waggling at you. If that happens, please laugh. Because it’s pretty funny. Sad, of course. But we aren’t there to argue with those who don’t agree with us. We are there to show solidarity with our neighbors and fellow brothers and sisters. Peacefully. Keep the negative at home. Bring your good sides. Bring good attitudes! Have some fun. Just don’t yell back. Thanks.
PARKING —
Downtown Arlington Heights has lots of free parking. You’ll probably have to walk 1 to 4 blocks from where you park to where we are but it’s a Tuesday so it shouldn’t be too big of a hassle to find a spot. There is also a free parking garage a few blocks away. But again, most of downtown is free parking. Just watch for signs about certain parking hours. AH also has an incredible downtown filled with some really good restaurants so come early or stay after for dinner.
WHERE TO FIND US —
THE CORNER OF ARLINGTON HEIGHTS RD AND NORTHWEST HIGHWAY. YOU CAN’T MISS US.
SPEAKERS —
At this moment we have decided to not have speakers at this event due to the freezing weather. We will also be LINED UP along ARLINGTON HEIGHTS RD and are expecting over 300 people over a two hour period. It’s very possible this number will grow to around 450 and up. So expecting a group that large with ear muffs and thick hats on in freezing weather to huddle might be a bit much.
A QUICK RECAP —
SIGN. WHISTLE. LANTERN (if you want). DRESS FOR THE WEATHER. POSITIVE ATTITUDE. NO YELLING AT TRUMPERS. HAVE FUN!
At the end of the day, your memory of this should be a good memory. One that makes you feel good about your intentions and makes you smile when you remember the thousands of car honks you heard and the smiles and thumbs up you got standing in the cold holding your sign. And you should also feel so proud of yourselves knowing you didn’t stay home yelling at your TV sitting on the couch. You took action. You made the decision to show your approval of impeachment and your disapproval of the current affairs in Washington.
Please RSVP for the event to make sure you get updates on the event from the host.
Nobody Is Above the Law. That’s why we’re calling on Congress to Impeach & Remove Donald Trump.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The night before the House of Representatives takes a somber vote to impeach Trump, we’ll head to every congressional office and public square to declare that Nobody Is Above the Law as representatives finalize their positions and senators look on.
Join this historic nationwide mobilization on the eve of Trump’s impeachment vote: RSVP for an event near you or sign up to host one. Events will be visible, family-friendly, public gatherings to demonstrate to our lawmakers that their constituents are behind them to defend the Constitution—and that Trump has left them no alternative to uphold their oath of office but to support impeachment and removal.
A core principle shared by supporting organizations is a commitment to nonviolent, peaceful actions. All actions that are sponsored or organized on this page are intended to be nonviolent and peaceful. We expect all participants to act lawfully at all times and to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
