Please join us at Illinois Women March on Springfield! This march is being co-chaired by Tracy Baim of Windy City Times and Pride Action Tank and Jaquie Algee of SEIU-Healthcare and Women’s March on Chicago, and from Springfield, Jennifer Camille Lee of Action Illinois and Women Rising-Illinois.
More than 50 organizations have joined a coalition to educate and organize around dozens of progressive bills being proposed in the Illinois House and Senate this session.
We have been asked to support the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment and other important bills. The march is in the spirit of the Jan. 21 women’s marches around the world, and just as those events attracted a wide diversity of people, the Springfield event is expected to bring together people across a range of inter-connected issues.
April 25, 2017 is planned as a day for advocacy, lobbying and a large rally in support of issues that support a progressive agenda. We are focused on advocating for specific legislation under consideration in the Spring 2017 Illinois legislative session.
The progressive agenda includes a focus on the Women’s Agenda, the People’s Agenda of labor issues, plus issues including immigration, homelessness, criminal legal reform, the environment, LGBTQ, gun safety, health, economics and passing a responsible budget in Illinois.
