Fiscal and Economic Issue Team April Meeting
!
MONDAY APRIL 8, 7:00 – 9:30 PM
Schaumburg Public Library
130 South Roselle Road
Schaumburg, IL 60193
>>>Our April Fiscal and Economic Issues meeting will be Monday, April 8th at 7 p.m. at the Schaumburg Public Library. Our meetings typically last until about 9:30 p.m. Then many of us head over to Lou Malnati’s for further discussions.
>>>
>>>Real GDP growth numbers for 2018 came in at 2.9% (2.86%) as we predicted. So it looks like we probably won’t get 3% growth for any year under President Trump. With the revised 4th quarter GDP numbers that came out last week, even the White House’s alternative four quarter calculation falls just short at 2.97%.
>>>The March jobs numbers come out next Friday, April 5th. Presumably any effects of the partial shutdown will have dissipated. So no more 300,000 jobs in January and only 20,000 jobs in February type numbers.
>>>Ed Spire will do a presentation on “Restore our Democracy.”
>>>
We’ll compare and contrast Democratic healthcare proposals and give an update on the latest uninsured statistics.
We’ll analyze federal revenue and spending trends in 2017 vs. 2018.
We’ll also explain the trade deficit and its cousin, the current account. This will give us the background for discussing why the President’s tax cuts and goal of reducing the trade deficit are contradictory.”

Wed. April 10th, 7 – 8 PM
Walter R. Sundling Junior High School
1100 North Smith Street, Palatine
Tell District 15: No Guns in Schools!
This is a reminder that the next District 15 Board of Education meeting is Wednesday, April 10, 2019, and we are looking for volunteers to attend. District 15 is considering hiring armed, retired police officers as support staff for each of its elementary schools. A community-based group, #D15 Vision for Safety, was formed last November to work against this plan to bring loaded guns into our schools, and our NWSOFA Gun Violence Prevention team is supporting this group. The Board of Education meetings are open to the public, not just District 15 residents. We usually stay for just the first hour of the meeting.
Please wear a red shirt to show support. Someone (wearing a red shirt!) will be handing out “No Guns in Schools” buttons in the lobby. We will try to sit together in a very noticeable, colorful group to show our opposition to guns in schools.
