SWW Talks Women’s Issues:

Education, DEI, Mental Health & Housing w/Local Candidates

_Please join “Stand With Women” March 10th ZOOM as (SWW) Talks Women’s Issues: Education, DEI, Mental Health & Housing w/Local Palatinr, Il Candidates: Mar 10@7:30_

As national politics grow more chaotic, women are stepping up to defend progressive values and protect their communities. NWSOFA/Indivisible invites you to a vital discussion on how local action can safeguard Illinois from harmful federal policies, with a focus on Women’s Issues: Education, DEI, Mental Health & Housing w/Local Candidates

Each day the new administration brings more chaos, leaving many feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. But as activists, we must stay informed.

That’s why we must focus on the upcoming April 1st election, ensuring that progressive candidates for School, Village, and Township Boards are elected. We have three local candidates who will speak on these issues.. including: Jane Russell, candidate for HS District 211 School Board and Natalie Sahinoglu, running for Palatine Township Trustee.

Attendees will also discuss how national events affect them personally, explore ways to support women running for local office, and reinforce the power of grassroots activism in shaping policies that matter most to women and families in Illinois.

From The Cold War to Mar-a-Lago:

The Fight to Protect Democracy

_From Moscow to Mar-a-Lago: The Threat to Democracy_

In the aftermath of World War II, tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union launched the Cold War. Its end allowed democracy to expand, but also paved the way for Vladimir Putin’s rise to power. Determined to restore Russia’s influence, Putin’s ambitions extended to Ukraine, where Russian-backed leaders received support from Paul Manafort, who later joined Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Manafort, alongside Roger Stone, helped shape Trump’s political strategies—many mirroring Putin’s tactics: attacking the media, dividing the public, and undermining political opponents. Since then, Trump’s efforts to weaken federal institutions and privatize government functions continue to threaten American democracy.

Trump’s push to withdraw the U.S. from European defense alliances further destabilizes global security. As America steps back, Europe faces mounting pressure to counter Russian aggression alone.

Now is the time to act. We must defend our democratic institutions, support global alliances, and hold leaders accountable. Democracy’s survival depends on informed and engaged citizens.
