Presented by the NWSOFA-Indivisible’s Climate Team

Focusing on two (2) important Climate and Environmental Areas:

1) presenting the Solar Switch program, a partnership between County & Citizens Utility Board (CUB) and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) and

2) Powering Progress update on the IRA, Inflation Reduction Act, IL investments that consumers can benefit from.

Solar Switch is a partnership between the County and non-profit organizations Citizens Utility Board (CUB) and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA)

Powering Progress is a campaign to celebrate the benefits in the Inflation Reduction Act, which is an example of how we can come together across races and places to solve big problems.

We will explore how the insights from the book support our work toward a multiracial, multi ethnic democracy here in the NorthWest Suburbs of Chicago (land beyond O’Hare)..

Ezra Levin, Co-Executive Director of Indivisible, will host a national discussion with Anand Giridharadas on January 25, 2024, 3:00 pm. central..

We encourage all to join that discussion as well.

The Persuaders: At the Front Lines of the Fight for Hearts, Minds, and Democracy immerses readers in the world of dedicated activists and organizers spanning the nation, all driven by the common goal of expanding the progressive movement without compromising our principles or drifting toward the center. Anand Giridharadas delves deep into the art of addressing threats and injustices while extending a hand to those who may not yet share our views, but potentially could in the future.

The Powering Progress book club series is being initiated across the country by Indivisible National. Their goals in doing this work include promoting an understanding of the value of an active and inclusive government, fighting back against the Right’s divide and conquer strategy, and supporting Indivisibles in becoming strong messengers to persuadable audiences.

The 14th Amendment

How Section 3 applies in 2024

The Fourteenth Amendment granted citizenship to all persons “born or naturalized in the United States,” including formerly enslaved people, and provided all citizens with “equal protection under the laws,” extending the provisions of the Bill of Rights to the states.

The amendment authorized the government to punish states that abridged citizens’ right to vote by proportionally reducing their representation in Congress. It banned those who “engaged in insurrection” against the United States from holding any civil, military, or elected office without the approval of two-thirds of the House and Senate.

We will have a lot of “Talk” Time and a two hour Fajita Buffet with all the fillings and condiments.

The cost per person for the buffet is $32.00 (tip included) with unlimited soft drink pitchers and coffee included.

Guests can order their own alcoholic beverages and pay the server at that time.

We will be collecting money in advance using our Act Blue donation account and /or you can may pay when you enter at the door..
