“Indivisible Illinois, NWSOFA & Indivisible Evanston Present:”
Fighting Poverty from The Ground Up
Join Indivisible Illinois and Co-Hosts, NWSOFA-Indivisible and Evanston Indivisible on Monday April 15 at 7:30 pm CDT on Zoom for a panel on how many are affected by poverty, what is being done to fight it, and how activists can help.
The panel will include:
– Kyle Patterson- current City of Champaign Township Supervisor. Mr Patterson has previously been a case manager for Cunningham Township, as well as the Chairman for the Champaign County Board.
– Jessica Motsinger- An Illinois Poor People’s Campaign Tri-Chair. Ms Motsinger is also the lead for Indivisible Rural Illinois as well as co-lead for Indivisible Metro East.
– Chris Todd- Program Administrator for the Food and More Food Pantry located in Champaign-Urbana. Food and More Food Pantry is all-volunteer led and staffed. It is the product of a collaborative among several houses of worship.
– LaToya Greenwood- Democratic Central Committeewoman for Congressional District IL-13. She is the Democratic candidate for State Representative in IL-114. As a past State Representative from 2017-2023, she worked on legislation for the underserved community.
Learn about how poverty affects households, about the work that these speakers are doing on the ground, what types of opportunities are out there for us to help, and how we can influence our legislators locally, statewide and nationally to pass legislation and ordinances that help fight poverty.
