Organizational
Meeting
& Phone Bank
 Thursday,
 May May 15th, 2014
6:30 – 9:00 PM

Coffee Planet (Rolling Meadows, IL)

1450 Golf Rd,. Rolling Meadows, IL 60008

Join the Immigration Reform CIR Dream Team as we expand our efforts in the North West Suburbs. Organization, goals, and action plans will be discussed from 6:30- 7:30 pm .

The team will make select calls to others in the Northwest Suburbs with the purpose of expanding the team. Our calls will be placed to the Northwest Suburbs to create action on the goals and action plans developed at the CIR National Day Of Action in February.

It’s Working…. We are changing the way Illinois politicians are looking at Immigration through our ACTIONS:

4-22-14: Former and current Illinois Republican politicians advocated for comprehensive immigration reform Tuesday in an apparent departure from national House Republicans’ strategy of piecemeal reform.

4-22-14 Two House Republicans from Illinois are endorsing some sort of legal status for immigrants in the country illegally, adding renewed GOP support for immigration reform efforts that have come to a standstill on Capitol Hill. (these are House Republicans we have targeted)

Come join us to get folks involved in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Movement.

NWSOFA Minimum Wage Petition Drive

Monday

May 19, 2014

2:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Arlington Heights Memorial Library

@ Garage Lobby Elevators

500 N Dunton
Arlington Heights, IL

Join NWSOFA Stand With Women & Fiscal Teams to gather signatures for a petition to urge state and local lawmakers who have refused to raise the minimum wage, that “it’s time to give America a Raise”!

Raising the minimum wage isn’t just the right thing to do for workers, it would also boost our economy and our community. Despite support from 7 out of 10 Americans — including President Obama, members of Congress and state and local officials — lawmakers have refused to raise the minimum wage.

Illinois can’t wait around for Springfield to act any longer

This past year, renewable energy development essentially came to a halt in our state, with zero new wind projects built, and minimal solar installed.

But fortunately, we can get Illinois back on track by updating our state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) to function in today’s utility market.

So far our elected legislative leaders in Springfield have yet to take action, which is why we’re asking you to call your representative to ask them to fix our state’s renewable energy portfolio standard this spring.

We know that renewable energy does great things for Illinois. Since 2007, Illinois’ Renewable Portfolio Standard has brought the state more than 20,000 clean energy jobs, removed 5 million tons of air pollution each year, and saved consumers $177 million in wholesale electricity costs.

If we want to continue to see this important industry develop in Illinois and bring valuable jobs to our state, we need legislators in Springfield to act.

It’s time to Act .. It Is Time To Get Involved
Over the years the American Citizens have lost their voices, believing that we can not make a difference.  We have been beat down by the constant droning noise of the conservative right. This onslaught has made us like sheep .. afraid to express our views.  Not anymore!  OFA gives us back our voices and by working together we are making change one issue at a time. Together we can and will make a difference.

Thank You to our NWSOFA Issue Leads in 2013 !!
